Bansko

Bansko is one of the most famous winter resorts in Bulgaria, located at the foot of Pirin Mountain. Undoubtedly the city is preferred all year round by numerous Bulgarian and foreign tourists. In addition to the stunning mountain views, the snow-capped ski slopes, the rich cuisine you will find plenty of landmarks and archeological sites to visit. Landmarks
On the territory of Bansko and the municipality were found 78 archeological sites from different epochs, which show that the lands have been inhabited since ancient times.
The house of the Nikola Vaptsarov Museum opened its doors in 1952, which marked the beginning of the museum work in Bansko. The museum is dedicated to the poet Nikola Vaptsarov, who lived and worked from 1909 to 1942. His work has won the 1952 World Peace Council Honorary Award. In the museum you can see materials that tell about the life of the poet, as well as the rich history of the city.

The Holy Trinity Church is remarkable for the resort town. It is one of the largest churches in Bulgaria. It was built in 1835 by local craftsmen. The interesting thing about her is that at the main entrance near each other you can see the Turkish crescent and the Christian cross, which represents the tolerance between the two religions.

The St. Paisius Hilendarski Spiritual and Historical Center is located at the place where the great Renaissance birthplace was located. The building is an exact replica of the cell at the Hilendar Monastery in Athos, Greece, where Paisius writes Slavic-Bulgarian History. The old part of Bansko will immerse you in the atmosphere of the traditional Bulgarian Renaissance, namely with cobblestone streets and typical houses with a wooden porch.

The St. Nicholas Archaeological Complex is located between Bansko and Dobrinishte and represents archaeological excavations dating back to the Thracians and more specifically to the Daite. Excavations have uncovered a Christian basilica from the end of the 4th century AD. A necropolis with 28 graves was also found nearby, in which were buried people measuring 1.80 – 2 meters in height.

Ski in Bansko
Bansko is the perfect place for skiing or snowboarding with its 70 kilometers of professionally prepared and secured slopes. They are not only for professionals but also for the mass tourist. Therefore, 30% of the tracks are aimed at beginners, 45% for advanced and 25% for experienced. The highest point of the ski center is 2560m and the lowest is 1000m. The ski complex has a mobile application that provides up-to-date information on the condition of the slopes as well as live cameras. For the convenience of visitors ski wardrobes are provided, transport to the first station of the cabin lift in 15 minutes. The trails are equipped with artificial snow machines, which guarantees the length of the ski season from December to April. There are many ski school opportunities in Bansko for both small and large. There are over 10 training centers. The length of the courses depends on the trainees. They start from half day to two weeks. The training can be individual or group. If you decide to opt in, you can use your own equipment or rent it on site.
You can find skiing cards in the ski resort, with mountain insurance included in the price. Prices vary according to the age of the users.

Restaurants
In addition to the sights and preferred ski slopes, Bansko offers a variety of places for connoisseurs of delicious food.

La Skara

The Fondue Alpine Restaurant is one of a kind, as only there you can enjoy true Alpine cuisine with specialties from France and Switzerland. You can try fondue with cheese as well as meat fondue.
